"This publication is the culmination of extensive effort, guided by the exceptional mentorship of Professor Takamasa Ueno, and the invaluable support of fellow lab members at Kumamoto University, Japan, as well as collaborators from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, Tanzania. In this work, we were able to unravel the relative resistance of patient-derived envelope sequences to SERINC5-mediated restriction, providing additional insights into viral evasion from host restriction factors. This publication serves as both motivation to continue my research activities and an opportunity to explore new horizons ahead"
