On September 25th,
Kumamoto University Graduate School graduation ceremony was held with great fanfare. Isaac Akuma (from Kenya) graduated from the doctoral course and obtained his PhD.
Isaac commented with joy:
I'm delighted that my 4-year PhD journey has finally come to an end. I'm thankful to my supervisor (prof. Ueno), collaborators, friends and family, for their invaluable support and motivation during this endeavor. I look forward to the next phase of my career.
On October 1st,
the entrance ceremony for the Kumamoto University GSMS was held. Three doctoral students enrolled in the Ueno Laboratory.
First, Jin-yan (金炎 from China), who has been a research student and member of our lab since January of this year, to share her aspirations and her message.
I am looking forward to my Ph.D. journey. I will give my utmost effort and hope to get some exciting discoveries in the field of immunotherapy for HTLV-1-related ATL!
Next is Alhaji Muhamad Salieu Jalloh (from Sierra Leone). He came to Japan in this April and took a six-month Japanese language course. He is a government-sponsored student recommended by the Japanese embassy.
Please tell us about your passion.
It is exciting to start my Master's, I will ensure to make the best out of this opportunity. I look forward to a thrilling experience and contribution towards novel findings.
Next is Jumanne Hussein Mti (from Tanzania). Mti graduated from MUHAS and is from Zanzibar, one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Let's hear about his enthusiasm for his research in Japan.
